ENHANCED LEARNING CREDIT SCHEME

The MoD’s Enhanced Learning Credits Scheme (ELC) is an initiative to promote lifelong learning amongst serving and ex members of the Armed Forces.  The ELC scheme provides financial support in the form of a single up-front payment in each of a maximum of three separate financial years.  Claims can be submitted for up to ten years after you leave service.

ELCs are available in two tiers:

• You must accumulate four years of eligible service to claim the Lower Tier amount of up to £1000 per claim installment.
• Eight years eligible service is needed to claim the Upper Tier amount of £2000.

Each eligible claimant may make a total of 3 claims. These may include claims in both the lower and upper tier.  Only one claim may be made for learning activities commencing in any one financial year.
